Why are teachers so afraid of data?

Why the reluctance to accept the cold hard facts of data? I would guess because most teachers don’t feel their students do well enough to have their performance based on the student achieve numbers. If that is the case, picture this… Your students are doing great – averaging between 95% and 99%. You know you may not be the best teacher in the world, but you are able to disseminate the information students need to excel on standardized tests and have them earn great grades. Your principal comes into the room and says, “Instead of basing your evaluation on data (because we know how you teachers hate ‘living and dying’ by the sword of data, I’ll be using the (subjective) Danielson Framework, because all the teachers are saying how wonderful it is compared to previous subjective evaluations.”
